I was honored to collaborate on this highly significant project with the IAA and other leading European scientific institutes. I am incredibly proud of the final result and delighted by its positive reception within the scientific community.

UPWARDS is a state-of-the-art initiative that, through the cooperation of excellence groups, is constructing a comprehensive image of Mars. It examines the planet holistically, from its subsoil to its atmospheric escape into space. The project develops new tools and applies them to existing data to answer fundamental questions about the Red Planet, including the global water cycle, methane exchange between the atmosphere and the interior, dust storm dynamics, and the nature of the Martian subsurface.

The Consortium: The project is led by a prestigious alliance of institutions: the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC, Spain), The Open University (UK), Institut d'Aéronomie Spatiale de Belgique (IASB, Belgium), National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS, France), Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF, Italy), Koninklijke Sterrenwacht van België (ORB, Belgium), and the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM, Spain).

The Design: The corporate identity visually translates the project's core concepts. The logo features an icon that symbolically connects the past, present, and future of Mars. It encapsulates the planet's origins, current knowledge, and the advanced tools used for its study, paired with the project name and slogan in a clean, dynamic, and graphic style.

In addition to the brand identity, I led the design of the UPWARDS website, a challenging project given the dense technical content. The goal was to balance corporate professionalism with high functionality.

To achieve this, I created a bespoke iconographic language tailored to the project's specific modules. This visual system acts as a navigational aid, breaking down complex scientific concepts into intuitive graphical elements, ensuring that the website remains user-friendly while accurately representing the depth of the research.
